Today in class Mr Schick gave us a pop quiz which was seriously un-cool bro, seriously un-cool. Besides that, we started a new chapter.

Peace!

Le post

Today in class we watched a video about the sweat shops in Indonesia owned by Nike and other large apparel corporations. It amazes me that in this day and age, some people are still forced to live with oppressive, low wage, almost  slave-like jobs. In the late 90s, workers in a Nike sweat shop were paid 1.25$ a day. They'd get what an American on minimum wage would get hourly, in a week. They lived in 9 by 9 rooms with no furniture except a dirty bed roll. Their shacks were built very close to above ground sewers, and during rainy seasons the raw sewage would flow in. Their bedrolls and small amounts of possessions would be engulfed and covered in urine and feces. In my opinion an unacceptable way to treat human beings. The Geneva Conventions wouldn't let a prisoner of war live in such conditions to put it all in perspective.

Today in class we talked about our test. Yeah that's pretty much it. Have a great day and stay golden!

Today

Today in class we took a test. It wasn't that hard. I didn't know a few answers but I think I did ok.

Today I was sick. I stayed home from school, checking my laptop for missed work, and rested.

Socrates

Today in class we learned about and discussed the Greek Philosopher, Socrates. We learned of his participation in the wars. We learned of his life and death. We learned of his method of teaching. It seems like he was a rather interesting fellow.

Well, yesterday in class we more thoroughly discussed A Letter to Garcia. It was a good discussion, some good points were made. I honestly can't remember that much more about that class. It was yesterday in the morning and I've mostly forgotten about it by now. I was probably half asleep the entire time, although I was trying to stay awake. I took a short nap at the end of class that surprisingly really did give me a boost of energy. Well that's all I have to say until next post.

Today in class we talked about the essay/article/book/movie A Message To Garcia. We took a lot of notes but I'm way to lazy to type all of them up here. Here are some basics. It was written in 1899. It sold over 40 million pamphlets world wide. It became a national phenomenon in America. It was based off a true story from the Spanish-American War. It uses real people and events to display a message of excellence.

At John Carroll I plan to do several things. First of all do well in academics. I plan to join the football team next year. I would like to join a club or two like robotics for example. I would like to spend my off mods doing something besides taking a nap and playing on my computer in the library, like I usually do. However, the naps are refreshing. I will never drink out of the water fountain upstairs because it tastes like someone has been tossing used tissues in the water supply. I hope to never get a detention or demerit because I have a completely clean record from middle school. Plus, you know, I have better things to do on Saturdays. I will likely never use the bathroom here. Especially during Human Geography. I am definitely going to try everything in the cafeteria eventually. Not the salad though, never the salad. Salad is evil, as is marmalade. ORANGES SHOULD NOT BE CRUSHED INTO A JAM-LIKE SUBSTANCE. Anyway, sorry I went a little off topic there, I will hopefully go on one of those canoeing trips I've heard so much about. I have a lot of experience on boats and kayaks so it should be fun. Unless they don't have those trips anymore. Know that I think about it, they probably don't. Oh well, I'll find another trip to go on. I hear there is a Hershey park trip later in the year. That should be fun. I'm sure I'll have more trips during the other years of High School. Well I can't think of anything else and there has to be at least 150 words in this, so I'll name some foods. Pickles, rice, chicken, soup, bread, MARMALADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today in class we didn't do too much. We didn't talk much either. Mr Schick gave a long lecture and then noticed none of us had any questions. He was rather disappointed. He then talked more and we still didn't say anything. It was an odd class.

Today in class we read and talked about......I can't remember its name, but it was a short essay that talked about how people are getting lazier and shouldn't ask stupid question when asked to do something. That was a long sentence and I can almost guarantee I made some grammatical errors.
Anyway, I found the essay to have a good point. However, it was written over a hundred years ago, which means that long ago it was thought that people were getting lazier. This will always reoccur in every generation, the elder generation complaining about the younger. Well, I can't think of anything else so, goodbye.

Today in class we talked about..................the problems we're having with our blogs? We didn't get to talk about much because everyone was having issues with blogger. Mr Schick did, however type up a blog on a student's laptop while they were in the restroom. The was quite funny. Overall it was a good class. We haven't gotten into actual Human Geography yet, but I assume that is because it is only the second day. We'll probably get our textbooks soon.
